ROBERTO DE ZERBI REVEALS HUGE TOTTENHAM BOOST AS KEY STAR RETURNS AHEAD OF ASTON VILLA CLASH

Tottenham Hotspur have received a major boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Aston Villa, with Roberto De Zerbi confirming that Pedro Porro will be available for selection.

The Spanish defender missed Tottenham’s recent matches after suffering a minor muscular problem, but De Zerbi has now confirmed that the right-back is ready to return to the squad.

Porro was absent for Tottenham’s goalless draw against Everton before also missing Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool. The decision to leave him out of those matches was understood to be precautionary, with De Zerbi unwilling to risk the defender while he recovered from the issue.

Speaking after Tottenham’s 3–1 defeat at Anfield, De Zerbi was asked whether Porro would return for the weekend fixture against Aston Villa.

His response was brief but significant.

“Yes,” the Tottenham boss confirmed when asked whether the defender would be available for the Villa clash.

That news will come as an important lift for Spurs, particularly given the difficult start they have endured under De Zerbi.

Tottenham have collected just two points from their opening four Premier League matches and are still searching for their first league victory of the campaign. Their attacking problems have also been evident, with the team failing to score in each of those first four league fixtures.

The situation changed slightly in midweek when Tottenham finally scored against Premier League opposition, but Liverpool ultimately secured a 3–1 victory to eliminate Spurs from the Carabao Cup.

De Zerbi admitted afterwards that Tottenham are experiencing a difficult period, although the Italian insisted that he remains confident in the quality of his squad and believes results will improve once his players fully adapt to his methods.

The return of Porro could therefore provide another option for De Zerbi as Tottenham prepare for an important league encounter.

PORRO’S IMPORTANCE TO DE ZERBI

Porro has established himself as an important member of Tottenham’s squad over the past two seasons.

The Spain international offers attacking quality from the right side, while his ability to contribute goals and assists gives Tottenham another dimension in possession.

De Zerbi specifically mentioned Porro when discussing the quality available within his squad following the defeat to Liverpool.

The Tottenham manager highlighted several players he believes can make a significant difference, including Omar Marmoush, Savio, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, Mateus Fernandes, Andy Robertson and Dominic Solanke, while also naming Porro among those he has great confidence in.

His return could consequently be important as Tottenham attempt to improve their attacking output.

ASTON VILLA CLASH LOOMS

Saturday’s meeting with Aston Villa arrives at a crucial stage of Tottenham’s season.

Villa are also searching for their first Premier League victory of the campaign, meaning both teams enter the fixture looking to change their fortunes.

Tottenham currently sit just above Villa in the early league standings, with only one point separating the sides.

For De Zerbi, the match represents another opportunity for his new-look Tottenham side to demonstrate progress.

The manager has overseen a major squad overhaul during the summer, with several new players arriving as Spurs attempt to rebuild following their difficult previous campaigns. De Zerbi has repeatedly stressed that his players need time to develop an understanding of his football and find the consistency required to produce results.

Despite the pressure surrounding the team, the Italian remains convinced that the squad possesses enough quality to turn things around.

The return of Porro gives him another experienced option for the weekend, while Tottenham will hope the defender can help provide the attacking width and creativity they have lacked during the opening weeks.

Spurs will now turn their full attention towards Aston Villa, knowing that another disappointing result would increase scrutiny around the team.

However, with Porro back in contention and De Zerbi continuing to back his squad, Tottenham will be looking to use Saturday’s fixture as an opportunity to begin changing the narrative around their difficult start.
