Thomas Tuchel’s call to include the 25-year-old in his World Cup squad raised eyebrows, but the versatile full-back went on to be one of England’s standout performers.
Spurs originally signed Spence in 2022 for a deal worth up to £20m. Despite having at least three years left on his contract, the rumoured asking price this summer is £25m—a figure that left Gold stunned.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “Let’s talk about Djed and the price tag I’ve heard—it’s utterly ridiculous. £25m? Not a chance. You’d have to be insane, Tottenham. I don’t think they should sell him at all—having two top players for every position is the ideal approach. But £25m? They paid £20m for him, he’s got three years left, and he just had a massive World Cup. Just no—don’t do it.”
