Glenn Hoddle makes Tottenham Premier League relegation prediction after ‘titanic’ result

Glenn Hoddle believes Tottenham will successfully avoid Premier League relegation after what he described as a “titanic” performance against Aston Villa on Sunday evening.

Goals from Conor Gallagher and Richarlison in the first half gave Spurs a 2-1 victory at Villa Park, lifting them above West Ham—who lost 3-0 to Brentford on Saturday—and out of the relegation zone.

With three games left, Tottenham now sit one point clear of their London rivals. Two of their remaining matches are at home, where they haven’t won a league game since the start of December.

Despite that poor run, Hoddle was encouraged by Spurs’ display against Villa and feels confident they can get results against Leeds at home next Monday and Everton on the final day.

Asked on TNT Sports whether he now thinks Spurs will stay up, Hoddle replied: “I do. You asked me earlier, and I said my heart told me they’d stay up, but my head said no if we lost today.

“That was a titanic performance and a titanic result. It puts huge pressure on the other teams—well, West Ham especially.

“The way they played today was excellent. Tactically spot on, and the players showed real hunger. Every player performed at eight or nine out of ten. They were brilliant.

“The only negative was the goal we conceded right at the end. But with that passion and work rate, if they repeat that on Monday night at home, they’ll start getting good results again.”
