adminEverton have registered their interest in Como winger Assane Diao, with TEAMtalk sources confirming that the Senegal international is being considered as a potential alternative to bringing Jack Grealish back to Goodison Park.
The Toffees are exploring several attacking targets as they look to add further quality and depth to their wide areas before the transfer window closes.
David Moyes’ side are also continuing to monitor the situation surrounding Iliman Ndiaye, despite their firm stance that the 26-year-old is not available for transfer. However, that position could be tested if a leading Premier League club submits an offer exceeding £80million.
Regardless of Ndiaye’s future, Everton are keen to sign another wide attacker this summer. That remains the case despite the permanent arrival of Tyrique George from Chelsea.
Diao is reportedly attracted by the prospect of playing in the Premier League, while Como are willing to consider offers for the 20-year-old. The Serie A club are believed to value him at around £50-60million.
Grealish, meanwhile, spent last season on loan at Everton and enjoyed a resurgence in form before suffering an injury. The England international has remained in contact with the Merseyside club, and another move to Goodison Park has not been ruled out.
Everton would prefer another loan deal for Grealish, but Diao could provide a younger and more long-term solution if negotiations for the Manchester City winger become difficult or too costly.
Everton Target Serie A Breakout Star
Diao’s attributes appear to match Everton’s recruitment plans. His pace, strength and versatility allow him to play on either flank, while his experience as a centre-forward could also prove valuable given Moyes’ desire to strengthen that position.
The 20-year-old, who plays alongside Ndiaye for Senegal, joined Como from Real Betis in 2025. Since moving to Italy, he has recorded 10 goals and two assists in 35 appearances.
His desire to test himself in England could give Everton an advantage in negotiations, provided they are prepared to meet Como’s valuation.
With the transfer window still open, Everton’s recruitment team are weighing up several possibilities. Signing Diao would provide additional competition and attacking depth, while a potential Ndiaye departure would make further reinforcements even more important.
Unless Everton receive a huge offer for Ndiaye, however, it appears unlikely that they would complete deals for both Diao and Grealish this summer.
The main question is whether Everton are prepared to commit more than £50million to Diao, although The Friedkin Group are reportedly ready to provide Moyes and his recruitment team with significant backing in the transfer market.
