Falkirk manager John McGlynn would have been well aware of the quality Celtic possessed before kick-off, but the match once again highlighted the difficulty of facing players who can remain calm under pressure, control the tempo and make the right decisions when opponents begin to apply pressure.

There were no spectacular long-range strikes or dramatic moments of individual brilliance.
Instead, his influence came through consistency and intelligence.
He made the simple pass when it was required, moved into useful positions, supported his teammates and recognised when Celtic needed to accelerate the game and when they needed to slow things down.
Those are qualities that can easily be overlooked by supporters because they do not always appear in the statistics.
Managers, however, tend to appreciate such performances.
McGlynn has established himself as a coach who places significant importance on organisation, discipline and tactical awareness. His Falkirk team travelled to Celtic Park knowing they would need to execute their game plan almost perfectly if they were to frustrate the Scottish champions.
Although Celtic ultimately held on for victory, Falkirk demonstrated plenty of character after the break and made the final stages far more uncomfortable for the hosts than many expected.
That only makes the contribution of Celtic’s underrated performer more significant.
When Falkirk began generating pressure, Celtic needed players capable of remaining calm, choosing the correct option and preventing the visitors from gaining complete control of the contest.
He repeatedly provided that stability.
It may not have been a performance remembered for spectacular individual moments, but it was built around doing the fundamentals exceptionally well.
Making the correct pass.
Finding the right position.
Helping teammates.
Keeping possession moving.
Knowing when to attack.
Knowing when to manage the game.
Those qualities can become incredibly important across a long campaign.
Duran deservedly received much of the attention after scoring twice in the opening half, with his goals giving Celtic the platform they needed to take control of the match.
But football is ultimately a team sport, and Celtic required contributions from several players to see the game through.
The victory was particularly important following their disappointing European exit against LASK earlier in the week. While the performance against Falkirk was far from flawless, securing the three points provided Celtic with a much-needed response.
Falkirk’s second-half fightback also exposed areas that Celtic will need to address, particularly when opponents increase the pressure and refuse to give up.
Nevertheless, the match also highlighted the value of having players who can influence proceedings without constantly attracting attention.
Fans naturally gravitate towards goalscorers because goals are the easiest contribution to recognise.
But football is filled with important contributions that never appear on the scoresheet.
Against Falkirk, Celtic’s underrated star demonstrated composure, intelligence, discipline and determination precisely when his team needed those qualities.
It might not become the most celebrated performance of Celtic’s season.
It might not generate the biggest headlines.
But it was the sort of display coaches notice and teammates appreciate.
And perhaps the most fitting conclusion is simple:
