After last season’s brush with relegation, the North London club have been aggressive in the transfer market, already shelling out big money on Sandro Tonali (£100m), Mateus Fernandes (£85m), and Jan Paul van Hecke (£52m). But the spending spree may not be over just yet.
While Gakpo—alongside Manchester City’s Savinho—is said to be on manager Roberto De Zerbi’s radar, Spurs are also closely monitoring Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Ajax winger Mika Godts.
Tottenham Keeping Tabs on PSG’s Godts Chase
According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are among four Premier League sides being kept in the loop regarding Godts’ future. PSG have ramped up their interest in the Belgian wide man, who now appears increasingly likely to depart Ajax.
The French champions turned their attention to Godts after missing out on RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, who is expected to join Real Madrid. Although the 21-year-old is open to a move to Luis Enrique’s European champions, his representatives have reportedly remained in contact with Tottenham “throughout the summer.”
Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are also said to be monitoring developments, particularly with PSG yet to agree a fee with Ajax. That leaves a potential window for De Zerbi’s recruitment team to make a move.
Described as “sensational,” Godts emerged from Ajax’s famed academy in 2024 and has quickly become one of Europe’s most exciting prospects. Last season, he delivered 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
Could Godts Be Tottenham’s Eden Hazard?
Ajax are thought to be holding out for around £51 million for Godts, who still has three years left on his contract. Should Spurs attempt to intercept PSG’s bid, it would represent another significant outlay in what’s already been a costly window.
Profile-wise, Godts appears tailor-made for De Zerbi’s system—a right-footed left-winger with explosive pace and sharp tactical awareness. The left flank was a problem area for Tottenham last season, particularly during their injury crisis.
With comparisons already being drawn to Eden Hazard, the Belgian youngster’s potential is clearly immense. PSG may currently hold the upper hand in negotiations, but if an opening emerges, Godts would be yet another statement signing for Spurs.
