adminItalian journalist Luca Calamai has suggested that Fiorentina ought to pursue a loan move for Tottenham Hotspur winger Manor Solomon, rather than getting tangled in transfer fee negotiations.
The 27-year-old has been featuring prominently in Roberto De Zerbi’s pre-season campaign, starting every friendly so far and impressing with his energetic displays. Still, both Spurs and the Israeli are believed to see a permanent exit as the likeliest scenario this summer.
Fiorentina had initially attempted to bring Solomon back after his loan spell in the second half of the season, but later explored alternative targets.
Though the original loan deal included a €10 million purchase option, the Viola chose not to activate it, instead pushing for a discounted price. Tottenham refused to lower their demands, yet Solomon remains on their books—a fact that has not gone unnoticed in Italy.
The main obstacle continues to be finding an agreement with Spurs over the financial terms. There are signs, however, that Tottenham may be willing to ease their asking price to help facilitate the winger’s departure, potentially opening the door to a deal.
Calamai has now emphasized that Fiorentina should focus on securing Solomon via a straightforward loan, avoiding prolonged talks over a permanent transfer.
Writing for Italian outlet Firenze Viola, he stated: “I expect two new wingers by August 10. I’m thinking of a simple loan deal, perhaps bringing Solomon back.”
Whether the two clubs can close the gap in negotiations or whether Solomon will end up elsewhere should become clearer in the coming weeks.
During his previous stint with La Viola, the Israeli registered four goal contributions in 19 appearances—a return the club would hope to see again if he returns.
Regardless of Solomon’s situation, De Zerbi’s side is keen to strengthen out wide and remain interested in Manchester City’s Savinho, while also monitoring Rafael Leão, who has been linked with Manchester United.
