Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy is on the verge of leaving the club, with a move to Kuwait FC reportedly close to completion.

According to the Ipswich Star, midfielder Sam Morsy is set to join Kuwaiti side Kuwait FC on a permanent deal this summer. No transfer fee will be demanded for the 33-year-old, who is expected to secure lucrative personal terms.

Morsy is keen to remain a regular starter, and with that role not guaranteed at Ipswich next season—he is entering the final year of his contract—the club is facilitating a smooth departure.

Derby County had shown interest in keeping the Egyptian international in the Championship, but a move to the Middle East now looks to be his next destination.

Morsy originally joined Ipswich in the summer of 2021, dropping down from the Championship to help drive the club’s ambitious plans to climb back through the divisions. He was immediately named captain.
