The 25-year-old Ipswich native brought an end to his three-and-a-half-year spell at his boyhood club on Tuesday, putting pen to paper with the Lilywhites. The dynamic right-back was a key figure in the celebrated “Band of Brothers” squad that secured back-to-back promotions to the Premier League.
Taking to social media last night, Clarke posted a lengthy and heartfelt tribute to the Town faithful.
It reads: “To everyone at Ipswich Town Football Club.
“There are some goodbyes you just can’t find the right words for—and this is one of them.
“This club has always meant more to me than football. It’s my hometown team, the club I supported as a kid, where I dreamed of one day wearing the shirt and representing the place I call home.
“Living that dream has been an incredible honour. But sharing this journey with all of you made it even more unforgettable.
“Back-to-back promotions… history makers… all the way to the Premier League. We built memories and achieved things I’ll carry with me forever.
“Stepping out in the Premier League, wearing my boyhood club’s shirt in front of my entire family—that was a moment I’d imagined as a child, and nothing will ever diminish that feeling.
“Thank you to the manager, every coach, teammate, and staff member who’s been part of my path.
“And most of all, thank you to the fans—a connection that was instant and can never be recreated. Through every high and low, you stood by us, and playing for you has meant more than I can ever properly express.
“I leave bursting with pride over what we achieved together, and gratitude for every second. I’ve lived every little Tractor Boys dream—unfortunately, dreams don’t last forever 🚜
“I might be saying goodbye as a player, but I’ll always be one of you.
