Tottenham target Martin Baturina scores world-class equaliser vs England

Croatia leveled the score against England thanks to a stunning strike from Martin Baturina.

England had taken an early lead when Harry Kane converted from the spot—though not without drama. Luka Modrić was penalized for bringing down Noni Madueke in the box, and while Kane’s first penalty was saved, the referee ordered a retake after ruling the goalkeeper had come off his line. Kane made no mistake with his second attempt.

But Croatia hit back in style. Baturina, who currently plays for Como, unleashed a brilliant effort from outside the box that curled into the top-left corner. Jordan Pickford managed to get a fingertip to it, but couldn’t keep it out—a truly magnificent finish.

The wonder goal comes at a time of growing uncertainty over Baturina’s club future. Both Tottenham and Aston Villa are reportedly prepared to offer around €50 million to lure him away from Como this summer.

Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida first reported Spurs’ interest, claiming the north London club had tabled a €50m bid back in June. Meanwhile, Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) has suggested that Aston Villa—under Unai Emery—have put forward an offer in the €50m–€55m range.

Leeds United have also been linked with the midfielder in the past.

Roberto De Zerbi’s squad is currently undergoing a major overhaul, having already secured deals for Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi. Spurs, meanwhile, are edging closer to signing Jan Paul van Hecke. Adding Baturina would be a major coup for either club as they look to reinforce their midfield options ahead of the summer window.
