The Norwegian striker and his national teammates are set to face England in Miami, with a spot in the semi-finals on the line—and a historic chance to knock the Three Lions out of the tournament.
Norway have never reached this stage of a World Cup before, but Haaland has already been part of a squad making history this summer.
The Manchester City frontman has found the net seven times in five matches, putting him firmly in the race for the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the high-stakes encounter, Haaland said: “I think everyone should stay humble. But they should be confident of progressing, definitely. It’s England!”
He added: “It’s a special game [against England]. For me, it’s super special because I play in England and I was born there. You want to face your teammates and all that, so it’s a bit—not weird, I don’t know the word in English—but it’s a funny kind of game.”
Haaland has become something of a phenomenon during the World Cup, with his social media following exploding since he arrived in the U.S.
On his growing American fanbase, he commented: “I like the Americans, I think they’re kind of hilarious as well! They’re funny, I like the way they are!
“Honestly, everything about the World Cup so far has been amazing—from the matches to the stadiums, the training facilities—everything has been impressive!”
