Jan Paul van Hecke Reacts After Tottenham Secure Third Consecutive Premier League Victory Against Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur continued their impressive run of form in the Premier League on Saturday evening, securing a comfortable 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace to record their third consecutive league win.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men enjoyed a relatively straightforward evening in north London after Crystal Palace were reduced to 10 players following Jean-Philippe Mateta’s dismissal for a late challenge on Micky van de Ven.

Spurs quickly took advantage of their numerical superiority and broke the deadlock in the 25th minute. Archie Gray was left unmarked inside the penalty area and made no mistake, heading home Mohammed Kudus’ corner to give the hosts a deserved lead.

Tottenham maintained control of the contest after going ahead, dominating possession and putting the visitors under sustained pressure.

Crystal Palace, however, had a promising opportunity to get back into the game during the second half, but Dominic Solanke produced an important defensive intervention to block Dwight McNeil’s effort.

The hosts eventually put the result beyond doubt in the 73rd minute when Jan Paul van Hecke found the back of the net to secure another valuable three points for Tottenham, who climbed into the top half of the Premier League table.

Jan Paul van Hecke Shares His Thoughts After Tottenham’s Victory

Van Hecke was among the standout performers as Tottenham comfortably dispatched Crystal Palace, with the Dutch defender also getting his name on the scoresheet.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle, as reported by BBC Sport, the 26-year-old expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and the important result.

He acknowledged that Mateta’s early red card worked in Tottenham’s favour but insisted that his teammates remained composed and continued creating opportunities.

“Really good, really happy. This is the result we wanted. Of course, it helps when they get a red card, but we stayed calm, created a lot of chances. It took a while before we scored the second one, but it was a good game, we were solid, and I’m happy with three points,” he said.

The defender also explained the challenge Tottenham faced against Palace’s defensive approach, revealing that patience was crucial to breaking down their opponents.

“We knew before the game they have a really low block, and it’s hard to play through them. We had to be patient and find a gap. We could have scored more, but I’m happy.”

Reflecting on his goal, Van Hecke admitted that he initially thought his first effort had been saved before getting another opportunity to find the net.

“When I had it first, I thought it was a great save, then it came back to my head, and I got it in. I am really happy. I was lucky the ball came back,” he added.

Van Hecke Delivers Impressive Performance Against Crystal Palace

Tottenham’s defensive department enjoyed a relatively comfortable afternoon following Mateta’s dismissal in the 13th minute.

With Palace losing their main attacking outlet, Spurs’ defenders were able to push higher up the pitch, apply pressure and contribute more to the team’s attacking movements.

Van Hecke particularly impressed with his composure on the ball, frequently driving forward from defence and helping Tottenham launch attacks.

The Netherlands international spent much of the second half operating inside Crystal Palace’s half as De Zerbi’s side maintained their dominance and searched for another goal.

His contribution was eventually rewarded with the crucial second goal in the 73rd minute, putting the result beyond doubt and completing an impressive individual display.

The defender also played an important role in Tottenham recording their fourth clean sheet of the Premier League campaign, providing another positive sign of the team’s growing defensive confidence under De Zerbi.
