Reporter 🎙️: “Cole, what did Van de Ven say about Chelsea that made you lose your cool during the confrontation?”
Cole Palmer 🗣️: “Honestly, I think he forgot who he was playing against. Before the match, he was making fun of Chelsea, claiming we spend enormous amounts of money but still struggle to achieve anything meaningful. He even suggested that Tottenham have a better long-term project than us and that our players care more about their wages than winning trophies.
“I decided to ignore the comments because I wanted to let my performance on the pitch do the talking.
“But everything changed during the game after a strong challenge. Van de Ven suddenly came towards me and told me to stop behaving as though I were a superstar. He called me overrated and claimed Chelsea had become a club where ordinary players believe they are world-class footballers.”
Reporter 🎙️: “What did you say back to him after hearing those remarks?”
Cole Palmer 🗣️: “I told him he was becoming far too comfortable disrespecting Chelsea. He insisted that Tottenham were a bigger club, so I asked him when they last won a major trophy that truly proved that claim.
“Clearly, he wasn’t happy with my response!
“I then reminded him that even when Chelsea go through difficult seasons, our recent trophy record still gives us something to point to. That only seemed to make him more frustrated.
“Listen, I respect Tottenham as a football club, but you cannot spend an entire match provoking someone and then act shocked when they finally respond.”
Reporter 🎙️: “Do you believe the rivalry between Chelsea and Tottenham has now become personal?”
Cole Palmer 🗣️: “Not from my side. For me, it’s football, and I have no personal hatred towards him. However, I won’t sit back and allow anyone to disrespect Chelsea as though I should simply accept it.
“Perhaps he genuinely believes Tottenham are better than us. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
“But if Chelsea are such a small club, why was he so determined to prove that point to us? He should concentrate on his own team, and we’ll concentrate on ours.
“At the end of the day, football history speaks for itself. Anyone can talk, but trophies and achievements tell a different story. Talk is cheap.”
