Spurs blow as star now out of action for one month with hamstring injury

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to be without Spanish right-back Pedro Porro for approximately a month after the defender suffered a hamstring injury, according to The Athletic.

The setback is expected to rule Porro out when Tottenham return to Premier League action on October 10. Spurs are scheduled to travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United following the international break before welcoming Coventry City on October 19.

Porro sustained the injury during Tottenham’s defeat to Aston Villa last Saturday. The problem subsequently forced him to withdraw from Spain’s squad for the current international break.

The 27-year-old had already missed Tottenham’s Premier League opener against Brentford after being given an extended break following the World Cup. He eventually made his first appearance of the campaign during the Carabao Cup clash with Charlton Athletic.

Porro then featured in league matches against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest before missing the following fixtures against Everton and Liverpool because of another injury. He returned to the starting lineup against Aston Villa, only to suffer another setback.

Tottenham will now be hoping the defender can recover in time to be considered for their London clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on October 24.

In Porro’s absence, Archie Gray has been deployed at right-back and is expected to continue in that position against both Manchester United and Coventry City.

The latest injury blow comes at a difficult time for Tottenham, who currently sit bottom of the Premier League table after a disappointing start to the campaign.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are yet to record a league victory, having drawn two and lost three of their opening five matches. The Tottenham manager will be under pressure to find a solution and revive the team’s fortunes as quickly as possible.

A positive result at Old Trafford would provide a significant boost to Tottenham’s confidence, but Spurs will have to cope without Porro as they attempt to get their season back on track.
