adminWest Bromwich Albion have emerged as one of several clubs monitoring AEK Athens attacker Dimitris Kaloskamis ahead of the January transfer window, with interest in the highly-rated Greek youngster beginning to gather pace.
The 21-year-old Greece Under-21 international is reportedly keen to leave Athens during the winter window, with discussions already taking place regarding a possible move away from the club.
Kaloskamis joined AEK Athens from fellow Greek Super League outfit Atromitos in the summer of 2025, with the transfer understood to have cost around €1.1million (£940,000 / $1.3m).
Since making the switch, the versatile attacker has featured 22 times for AEK, contributing three goals and three assists. He is capable of operating on either wing and can also play in an attacking midfield role, making him an attractive option for clubs looking to add versatility to their squad.
However, opportunities have been difficult to come by for Kaloskamis this season. He has made only two appearances so far, featuring once in the Super Cup and once in the Greek Football Cup.
His lack of regular first-team football has reportedly strengthened his desire for a fresh challenge, with West Brom among the clubs now exploring the possibility of bringing him to England.
West Brom Face Competition for Greek Talent
West Brom are understood to have registered early interest in Kaloskamis as they consider further strengthening their squad when the January transfer window opens.
James Morrison’s team have made a positive start to the Championship campaign and currently occupy third place in the table, sitting behind West Ham United and Swansea City on goal difference.
Kaloskamis could provide another attacking option while also offering the potential to develop into an important player over the longer term. Reports indicate that a transfer fee of around £3million could be sufficient to persuade AEK Athens to part company with the young playmaker.
However, West Brom will not have the field to themselves.
Championship promotion rivals Southampton are also believed to be monitoring Kaloskamis closely and could make their interest more concrete in the coming months.
There is also competition from Spain, with LaLiga side Levante reportedly having already held formal discussions regarding a potential deal for the Greek attacker.
A move to Spain’s top flight could prove particularly appealing to Kaloskamis, especially if Levante can offer him the regular playing time he has been unable to secure at AEK Athens.
With the player understood to be pushing for a departure and clubs already making enquiries, Kaloskamis appears increasingly likely to be at the centre of a transfer battle when the January window opens.
West Brom will now have to move quickly if they want to secure his signature, with Southampton and Levante also keeping a close watch on the situation.
