Roberto De Zerbi’s side arrived at the City Ground desperate for a response after suffering defeats in their opening two league matches. Instead, Spurs were once again unable to find the back of the net, leaving them still searching for their first Premier League goal of the campaign.

Tottenham ultimately escaped with a point, but their performance offered little encouragement in attack.
Despite making major investments during the summer transfer window, Spurs struggled to create clear-cut opportunities. Savio showed flashes of quality on his debut, while Sandro Tonali worked hard in midfield, but Tottenham lacked the cutting edge needed to break down Forest’s defence.
De Zerbi attempted to change the game with his substitutions, including the introduction of Mykhailo Mudryk for his first competitive appearance in a Tottenham shirt after a lengthy absence.
Dominic Solanke was also brought on as Spurs searched desperately for a winner. The striker came closest when he headed towards goal late in the match, but his effort landed on the roof of the net.
Forest were hardly dominant either, with the hosts also struggling to create sustained attacking pressure. James McAtee forced one of the few genuine saves, while Gibbs-White’s effort eventually led to the controversial Williams incident.
The draw leaves both teams still waiting for their first Premier League victory of the season.
For Tottenham, however, the concern is growing. After spending heavily to strengthen the squad, the club’s failure to score in three successive league matches will inevitably increase scrutiny on De Zerbi and his attacking players.
Spurs will now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Everton, knowing another poor attacking performance could increase the pressure considerably.
The Forest camp, meanwhile, will feel disappointed that the VAR decision denied them what they believed was a deserved breakthrough.
