adminJack Grealish has been encouraged to turn down a potential return to Everton and instead consider moves to Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur or Crystal Palace.
The England international is currently back at Manchester City following the conclusion of his loan spell at Everton in June. Grealish appears to have regained full fitness after featuring in City’s Community Shield clash with Arsenal, coming off the bench at half-time.
Everton are keen to bring the 30-year-old back to Goodison Park and reportedly believe Grealish would also welcome another spell with the club. With just one year remaining on his Manchester City contract, another loan move could be a realistic option, particularly given his reported wages of more than £350,000 per week.
However, former England international Chris Waddle believes Grealish should consider a different challenge if he wants to revive his career.
Speaking via Snabbare, Waddle suggested that Newcastle, Tottenham or Crystal Palace could provide the ideal environment for the winger to rediscover his best form.
Waddle believes Grealish’s biggest priority should be regular first-team football rather than remaining at Manchester City and collecting trophies without playing a significant role.
Although Grealish has enjoyed considerable success at City, including winning major honours, his time at the Etihad has failed to reach the level many expected when he joined from Aston Villa.
The former Villa captain has struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter and has rarely produced the kind of performances that made him one of England’s most exciting attacking players.
Waddle argued that Grealish still has plenty to offer and is certainly not at the stage of his career where he should be considering a decline. Instead, the priority should be finding a club where he can play regularly and regain his confidence.
Everton supporters quickly warmed to Grealish during his loan spell, and his presence provided the team with greater balance. Nevertheless, Waddle believes there are several clubs where the midfielder could make an even bigger impact.
For Grealish, the message is simple: playing regularly should now take priority. If that means leaving Manchester City permanently or temporarily, Waddle believes he should make the move rather than spend another season watching from the bench.
