A well-known figure in English football, Vardy has built a reputation for scoring consistently across every level—from non-league to the Premier League. Last season, he added a new chapter to his story by netting goals in Serie A, registering 7 goals and 3 assists in 29 outings for a Cremonese side that ultimately suffered relegation. He also claimed the Serie A Player of the Month award for September.
Though he no longer possesses the blistering pace of his historic 2015/16 title-winning campaign, Vardy still brings the same energy and drive that defined his peak years—qualities that continue to make him a reliable finisher.
In many ways, he would resemble a Callum Wilson-type addition: a proven scorer brought in to provide immediate impact, whether as a super-sub in need of a late goal or as a contender for a starting role.
If West Ham were to choose Vardy over younger options like Troy Parrott or Wilson Isidor, I’d have my reservations. But pairing him with one of those names—giving the squad a forward pool of Parrott, Castellanos, Pablo, and Vardy for the two striking spots—would leave the attack well-stocked for goals.
Vardy is precisely the kind of player Hammers fans would take to. It’s almost surreal to think the club passed on him a decade ago for being “too old,” and could now sign him ten years later. Still, on a one-year deal, it’s a move I’d genuinely welcome.
