“HUGE test”- Eddie Riemer give honest verdict on Leeds United v Tottenham

Leeds United on brink of Premier League survival as Spurs await

Leeds United could secure another season in the Premier League this weekend, depending on results elsewhere. The Whites are set to face Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.

Spurs and West Ham are locked in a battle to avoid the final relegation spot. The Hammers play a day before Roberto De Zerbi’s side take on Leeds. Should West Ham slip up, it would significantly alter the picture at the bottom of the table — potentially boosting Spurs’ survival hopes while also confirming Leeds’ top-flight status for next season.

Eddie Riemer delivers honest verdict ahead of Tottenham clash

Eddie Riemer stood in for Daniel Farke during Leeds United’s pre-match press conference for the Tottenham game. The assistant coach acknowledged that Monday night will be a difficult test, noting that Spurs have become a different team under their new manager.

“It will be a huge test. They’re now out of the relegation zone,” Riemer said. “We want to finish the season on a high and seal survival mathematically. I don’t think it’s a strange dynamic. We will take it as it comes but be ready for whatever happens. We will prepare the next three sessions to be ready for a heated match.

“It’s not for me to judge De Zerbi, but he has had an impact on the players. They are aggressive. You see his patterns from week to week. They are becoming a different Tottenham team. Survival? It’s massive. It seems like every season has to be a special season for us. We thought we needed a point per game, but we need more. A special season.”

Whites to be without key players on Monday night

Unfortunately for Leeds, they are likely to be without two key first-team players. Riemer confirmed that Gabriel Gudmundsson will not be ready in time to face the London club, and that Noah Okafor is also ruled out after picking up a calf problem, which is expected to keep him sidelined for the next two games. Pascal Struijk is a doubt for Monday night after missing training.

Getting a result away from home against this Spurs side will be no easy task for Leeds, but they have defied the odds before. Monday night promises to be a fascinating encounter with plenty at stake.
