Nuno Espirito Santo issues Crysencio Summerville update as winger being assessed for Leeds clash

Nuno Espírito Santo has revealed that Crysencio Summerville could still feature for West Ham United against Leeds United, although his fitness is being monitored closely on a daily basis.

The winger has been sidelined since early March after picking up a calf injury in the previous round of the FA Cup. As domestic action resumes, West Ham are entering a crucial period, with both Premier League survival and cup success still within reach over the coming weeks.

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup clash, Nuno provided an update on Summerville’s condition, explaining that the club is working to bring him back as soon as possible. However, he stressed that the player is not yet fully ready, though there remains a slim chance he could be available in time.

With key league fixtures approaching, the manager may opt for caution rather than risk aggravating the injury—especially despite the lure of a potential semi-final at Wembley. Summerville has been in impressive form in 2026, and his return could be vital to West Ham’s push to stay up.

Historically, meetings between West Ham and Leeds in the FA Cup have been rare. This will be only their fourth encounter in the competition. Their first clash dates back to the 1923–24 season, where a draw led to a replay that Leeds eventually won. More recently, West Ham claimed a 2–0 victory in the 2021–22 edition.

With the head-to-head finely balanced, both sides now have another chance to gain the upper hand—though West Ham may have to do so without one of their key attacking threats.
