Manchester United Plot Summer Move for Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven as Future Meeting Already Scheduled

Manchester United are preparing a big-money summer bid for Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven, with a meeting already lined up to discuss his future, according to Caught Offside.

The Red Devils are expected to be highly active in the upcoming transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad. Meanwhile, Spurs face the prospect of losing several key players following another disastrous campaign—one that could still end in relegation to the Championship. Tottenham currently sit two points from safety with only four games remaining.

Centre-back is a clear area of need for United, and the Dutch international has emerged as a serious target, especially with his situation in north London becoming increasingly uncertain.

United Ready to Move for Van de Ven

Van de Ven, who has been labeled “world-class,” is believed to be unhappy at Tottenham after another season spent fighting near the bottom of the table. Reports suggest he is pushing for a move away when the campaign concludes.

Manchester United are among the clubs showing strong interest in the 25-year-old. Tottenham are desperate to keep him and have slapped an £80 million price tag on his head. However, that fee could drop significantly if the club is relegated—a scenario that has kept United on high alert.

Speaking to Caught Offside, a source revealed that the player has already scheduled end-of-season talks with Tottenham’s hierarchy to discuss his future.

“Van de Ven will meet with Tottenham at the end of the season, whether they stay up or not,” the source said. “For now his full focus is on keeping them in the Premier League, but he’ll be aware that clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United are interested, and that could put pressure on Tottenham.”

In addition to the £80 million fee, reports indicate that Van de Ven would likely demand a contract worth around £200,000 per week at his next club.

Is Van de Ven Worth the Gamble?

While Van de Ven possesses outstanding attributes—most notably his electric pace and aerial presence—there are also glaring flaws in his game that should give Manchester United pause for thought.

He is prone to lapses in concentration when defending, and questions can be raised about his mentality given how poorly Tottenham have performed collectively this season.

With so much business expected at Old Trafford this summer, spending a huge chunk of their budget on Van de Ven—especially when they already have centre-back options—may not be the smartest move. It’s a deal United should probably think twice about before pulling the trigger.
