adminFormer Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City winger Jordan Graham is currently receiving specialist treatment in hospital after being involved in a serious road traffic accident earlier this month.
The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) issued a statement on behalf of Graham’s family, confirming that the 31-year-old remains in hospital as he continues his recovery.
“Earlier this month Jordan Graham was involved in a serious road traffic accident and is currently receiving specialist treatment in hospital,” the statement said. “His family are incredibly grateful for the care he is receiving.”
Graham’s family have also appealed for privacy during what they described as an extremely difficult period. They have asked supporters and others to avoid contacting them directly while they concentrate on his recovery.
The family added that any further updates regarding Graham’s condition would only be released when they believe it is appropriate.
Graham, who was born in Coventry, came through Aston Villa’s academy and signed his first professional contract with the club in March 2012. Although he was unable to make a senior appearance for Villa, he gained experience through loan spells with Ipswich Town, Bradford City and Wolves.
His temporary move to Wolves eventually became permanent in January 2015 when he completed a transfer to Molineux. However, regular first-team football proved difficult to secure, and he subsequently spent time on loan at Oxford United, Fulham, Ipswich Town for a second spell and Gillingham.
Across five years with Wolves, Graham made only 17 senior appearances before leaving the club when his contract expired in May 2020.
The winger then returned to Gillingham on a permanent deal and enjoyed an impressive first full season with the League One side. He contributed 13 goals and nine assists in 44 appearances, performances which earned him another opportunity in the Championship.
Birmingham City moved to sign Graham in June 2021, handing him a two-year contract.
His time at St Andrew’s, however, proved challenging. Graham was unable to score during his two seasons with the club and registered five assists in 54 appearances before being released in June 2023.
He subsequently joined Leyton Orient as he attempted to revive his career in League One.
Unfortunately, his time at Orient was severely disrupted by injuries. Graham suffered two separate ruptures of the patella tendon in his left knee, having previously sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in the same knee during his Wolves career.
His contract with Leyton Orient expired in June 2025, leaving him without a club. During his time as a free agent, Graham remained involved with the PFA and worked with the organisation over the summer while looking for his next opportunity in football.
News of his serious road accident prompted an outpouring of support from his former clubs and their supporters.
Gillingham said: “Everyone at the club is thinking of Jordan and his family at this time. We wish him a full and swift recovery.”
Birmingham City also sent their support, saying: “Everyone at Blues sends their best wishes to Jordan at this incredibly difficult time. KRO.”
Leyton Orient added: “Sending our best wishes to Jordan Graham. The former O is receiving specialist care in hospital after recently being involved in a serious car accident. We’re all with you, JG.”
With Graham continuing to receive specialist hospital care, messages of support have continued to arrive from across the football community as he focuses on his recovery.
