He also suggested that if the SFA believes Nicolson made the correct decision, Collum should explain the reasoning publicly to supporters and the wider football community.
The former referee’s comments come amid renewed scrutiny of Scottish refereeing standards, with contentious decisions continuing to generate significant debate among clubs, supporters and former officials.
The Rangers-Motherwell match itself ended 1-0, with Ryan Naderi scoring the decisive goal after replacing injured Rangers captain Lawrence Shankland. Rangers also missed the controversial penalty but managed to hold on for their third consecutive league victory.
For Motherwell, the penalty decision added frustration to a match in which they were unable to turn periods of possession into a goal.
