adminWest Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen committed his future to the club earlier this summer, but fresh speculation has emerged linking the England international with a possible late move to Crystal Palace.
Bowen pleased Hammers supporters by staying loyal to the club despite their relegation from the Premier League. He has since featured in West Ham’s opening two league matches and also scored in their Carabao Cup victory over Portsmouth.
Despite his commitment, Palace are reportedly considering a surprise approach for the forward, particularly if they are forced to replace Ismaila Sarr.
The Eagles are concerned that Sarr could leave for Galatasaray, while another of their attackers, Jean-Philippe Mateta, has also attracted interest from Aston Villa.
Bowen’s decision to remain at West Ham appeared to end speculation over his future. However, according to reports from The Sun, Palace could make a late move if Sarr departs and they need to strengthen their attack.
The 29-year-old enjoyed another productive campaign last season, finishing with 11 goals for West Ham. Palace’s interest in Bowen is also not entirely new, as the club previously attempted to sign him when he was starring for Hull City in January 2020. West Ham ultimately won the race for his signature.
The latest transfer speculation comes during a difficult beginning to life for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. West Ham surrendered a two-goal advantage to draw with Burnley in their Championship opener before suffering a home defeat to Charlton on Saturday.
New signing Joel Piroe found the net on his debut, but Taty Castellanos missed a crucial opportunity to level the contest after taking over penalty duties from Bowen. The Argentine striker struck the post with his spot-kick.
Bowen admitted afterwards that West Ham must quickly respond to their disappointing start.
“We’ve got to put it right,” the captain said. “Like I said then about the games coming thick and fast, we have an opportunity in three days’ time to go and put it right, so that’s what we have to do.
“We were ultimately disappointed from the start that we’ve had in the two games, but we have to accept it as we can’t change it. We have to go and try and change the future now.”
West Ham’s next opportunity to bounce back comes against Southampton in the Carabao Cup. Bowen scored the winning goal when the two sides last met at St Mary’s in December 2024.
