Spurs have completed six signings so far, adding Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali to their squad. Meanwhile, Luka Vuskovic, Djed Spence, Cristian Romero, Radu Dragusin, Will Lankshear, Manor Solomon and Guglielmo Vicario have all left the club.
The North London side are also reportedly in advanced negotiations with Manchester City over a potential double swoop for Savinho and Omar Marmoush as they look to strengthen their attacking options. Cody Gakpo remains another player on their radar.
However, further arrivals are expected to lead to more exits as Tottenham attempt to balance their squad and finances.
One player whose future has been under serious speculation is midfielder Lucas Bergvall. Brighton and Nottingham Forest have reportedly shown interest, while Newcastle United have identified the Swedish midfielder as a major target after previously seeing an offer rejected.
Despite the interest, reports indicate that Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi wants Bergvall to remain at the club. The manager has reportedly spoken with the youngster and attempted to convince him to stay until at least January before reconsidering his options.
“There will be a big competition to play because, at the end, I think we will be two players for each position. If he wants to stay, I will be happy,” De Zerbi said regarding Bergvall.
However, the midfield situation could have serious consequences for Pape Matar Sarr. With Fernandes, Tonali, Bergvall, Rodrigo Bentancur and Conor Gallagher seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order, Sarr may have already made his final appearance for Tottenham.
£50m Sarr Could Be Heading For The Exit
Reports claim Tottenham have placed a £50 million valuation on the Senegal international, with clubs from Saudi Arabia, Brentford and Aston Villa reportedly making enquiries about his availability.
Sarr has been a dependable player for Spurs since joining the club, but his prospects have become increasingly uncertain following the club’s summer recruitment.
The midfielder has received limited opportunities and was given only 87 minutes during pre-season, fewer than any of Tottenham’s other midfield options.
De Zerbi’s preference to have two players competing for every position could make Sarr’s route back into the first team extremely difficult.
With Tottenham continuing to reshape their squad, all signs now point towards Sarr potentially having played his final match in a Spurs shirt.
