That ambition has already seen £185 million spent on Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali in early July. Since then, the transfer activity has slowed, but Spurs remain hard at work behind the scenes. Kroupi is a prime target and would be an outstanding addition.
Why Spurs are eyeing Kroupi to succeed Solanke
Tasked with filling Harry Kane’s boots, Dominic Solanke was never going to have an easy ride winning over the Tottenham faithful.
That said, his first season in London—following his move from Bournemouth, the same club Kroupi now represents—was productive. In 2024/25, the English striker notched 16 goals across 45 appearances in all competitions.
But 2025/26 told a different story. Solanke missed over 20 matches due to injury and managed just six goals. While he can’t be faulted for his fitness woes, even when available, his all-round play rarely convinced.
Still, at least that stunning scorpion-kick goal will live long in the memory.
In Kroupi, Spurs could secure a sizzling replacement. Valued at £90 million and reportedly eager to join De Zerbi’s project, the Frenchman is one of the most exciting young strikers around.
Now 20, Kroupi only arrived at Bournemouth a year ago but hit the Premier League like a storm. No teenager has ever scored more than his 13 goals in their debut campaign in England’s top flight—he’s already rubbing shoulders with legends.
Pacey, deadly in front of goal, a slick dribbler, and versatile across the front line, it’s no wonder Spurs aren’t alone in their interest—Arsenal are also circling.
Yet there may be an even more electrifying signing on the horizon before the window slams shut.
How Spurs could supercharge their attack even further
Bringing in a new striker makes sense, especially after Solanke’s difficult year. But for De Zerbi, landing a winger is arguably more urgent.
Tottenham are pushing to secure one or two wide players. Talks are ongoing for Manchester City’s Savinho, and early discussions have also taken place with Benfica over Norwegian starlet Andreas Schjelderup.
Both would add flair, trickery, and ball-carrying brilliance—but neither quite matches the buzz around Yan Diomande, who, like Kroupi, is regarded as one of Europe’s finest young talents.
While Kroupi shone in the Premier League, Diomande has generated even more hype across the continent, drawing interest from PSG, Liverpool, Arsenal, and now Spurs, according to TEAMtalk. If his preferred move to Paris collapses, Tottenham are poised to pounce.
Valued at over £101 million, Spurs would need to shatter their transfer record again—but it could be well worth it. Some argue Diomande is even more exhilarating than Kroupi.
Described as a “generational talent” by European football analyst Bence Bocsák, the Ivorian was one of the most dynamic wingers in Europe’s top five leagues last season. Beyond his 13 goals and ten assists, his dribbling and carrying stats were off the charts.
In 2025/26, the 19-year-old ranked in the top 1% of wingers for productive and successful dribbles per 90 minutes, and among the top 3% for progressive carries and shot-ending carries. Simply put, Diomande is a nightmare for defenders—and he backs it up with end product.
He also sits in the top 3% for ‘final product’ and the top 4% for overall ball progression. Give him the ball, and something happens.
Kroupi is hugely exciting in his own right, but his ball skills and carrying don’t quite match Diomande’s level. Watching the Ivorian in full flight is like witnessing Gareth Bale at his peak—blistering pace, raw power, and aggressive, thrilling running that leaves defenders helpless.
