The Italian manager has strengthened across the pitch—Martin Dubravka arrives on a free to boost his goalkeeping ranks, while defensive additions include Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, and Andy Robertson. In midfield, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have also come through the door.
But De Zerbi isn’t done yet. His focus has now shifted to attack, with Savinho, Rafael Leão, and Eli Kroupi Junior all being linked with a move to N17.
Seven out, more to follow
A squad overhaul, however, demands exits as well. Yves Bissouma, Alejo Veliz, Alfie Devine, Radu Dragusin, Luka Vuskovic, Joao Palhinha (loan ended), and Randal Kolo Muani (loan ended) have all departed since last season.
Vuskovic represented the biggest sale of that group—Brighton shelling out £46m for the teenage defender, who never played a senior minute for Spurs but was viewed as a huge future talent.
Now, another highly regarded youngster looks set to follow: Lucas Bergvall.
Bergvall pushing for exit
The Swedish midfielder joined from Djurgårdens for just £8.5m two years ago and swept the club’s end-of-season player awards in 2024/25, standing out in a turbulent Spurs side that finished 17th in the Premier League but lifted the Europa League trophy.
The following campaign saw three different managers take charge, and Bergvall—once labelled “unstoppable” by Pep Guardiola—struggled to cement a starting role. With Tottenham splashing £185m on Tonali and Fernandes in his position, and no European football on the horizon, the 20-year-old is now eager to move on in search of regular minutes.
Newcastle join the chase
Speaking on his YouTube channel, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano provided an update: Nottingham Forest have already seen a £38m bid rejected, while Newcastle have entered the race and had a £46m offer turned down as well.
Romano said: “Lucas Bergvall from Tottenham is expected to leave this summer. He’s told Spurs he wants to play week in, week out. His feeling is that after the arrivals of Fernandes and Tonali, and with no European football, he doesn’t want to spend the season on the bench or playing ten minutes here and there.
“Nottingham Forest have bid, Newcastle are in talks—both clubs are working on it and both are in contact. This is one to watch.”
More departures are anticipated beyond Bergvall, with Cristian Romero and Guglielmo Vicario also expected to move on, while the futures of Richarlison, Pape Matar Sarr, and several younger players remain uncertain.
