Crystal Palace Prepare Late £50m Move for Jarrod Bowen Despite New West Ham Contract

Crystal Palace are reportedly preparing a late attempt to sign Jarrod Bowen, despite the England international agreeing a new contract with West Ham United earlier this summer.

Bowen had plenty of reasons to consider leaving the London Stadium after West Ham’s relegation to the Championship. The 29-year-old has consistently delivered impressive goals and assists since joining the club and has shown that he is capable of competing at the highest level of English football.

Despite the interest he was likely to attract, Bowen committed his future to West Ham in July by signing a revised contract. The agreement was expected to keep him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season, although the existing 2030 expiry date remained unchanged.

However, with Bowen now entering the latter stages of his career, the opportunity to remain in the Premier League could prove difficult to turn down. A move to Crystal Palace could be particularly appealing, with the Eagles preparing to compete in the Europa League this season.

Bowen’s Premier League output last season also highlights why Palace could be interested. The former Hull City attacker registered 20 goal involvements, a figure that surpassed the total of every Palace player. Jean-Philippe Mateta was the club’s leading contributor with 12.

Bowen also earned significant praise after finding the net during West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Brighton last season, further underlining his importance to the Hammers.

Crystal Palace Preparing £50m Bowen Bid

According to a report from The Sun, Crystal Palace are preparing a late bid worth around £50 million for Bowen as they look to complete a deal before the transfer window closes on September 1.

The Eagles are also expected to sell Ismaila Sarr, creating a potential vacancy on the right side of their attack. Bowen’s versatility would make him an attractive replacement, given his ability to operate as a right winger while also playing through the middle as a centre-forward.

Sarr is reportedly attracting interest from Galatasaray, with the Turkish club said to be working towards a deal worth approximately £34 million. Should that transfer go through, Palace could have significant funds available to pursue Bowen.

The potential move would also see Palace attempt to take advantage of West Ham’s financial difficulties following their relegation. The Hammers could face pressure to cash in on one of their most valuable assets, even though Bowen only recently signed fresh terms.

However, Palace manager Pierre Sage could be reluctant to lose Sarr. The Senegal international was one of the club’s most influential attacking players last season, scoring 21 goals across all competitions.

Replacing that kind of production would be a major challenge, but bringing in an experienced Premier League performer such as Bowen would represent a significant statement of intent from Palace.

With the transfer deadline approaching, Palace’s reported £50m interest could therefore become one of the more intriguing late moves of the window. Whether West Ham are prepared to entertain the offer remains to be seen, particularly after securing Bowen’s commitment to the club earlier this summer.
