Spurs have already spent more than £230 million on six senior additions ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka arrived as free agents, while Jan Paul van Hecke was signed from Brighton for £52 million.
The biggest expenditure has come in midfield. Tottenham paid £85 million to bring in Mateus Fernandes before smashing their club transfer record with the £100 million signing of Sandro Tonali.
Those arrivals have significantly strengthened the spine of De Zerbi’s team, while several players have headed for the exit, including Cristian Romero, Luka Vušković, Djed Spence and Guglielmo Vicario.
Despite the huge spending, Tottenham are yet to add a senior attacker and are now prioritising their forward line as the transfer deadline approaches.
According to Sky Sports, Spurs want to sign three forwards before the window closes, with De Zerbi reportedly targeting two wingers and a striker to complete his attacking overhaul.
Savinho remains their preferred option on the right wing after the Manchester City star reportedly expressed an interest in moving to North London. However, he could potentially be joined by another City attacker, Omar Marmoush.
David Ornstein delivered a major update on Wednesday afternoon, revealing that Tottenham are now working on a potential double deal for Savinho and Marmoush. The Lilywhites are reportedly advancing in negotiations with Manchester City as they attempt to bring both players to N17.
For the striker position, Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has emerged as a potential target. Paul O’Keefe claims De Zerbi views the Netherlands international as someone capable of operating as a number nine.
However, Liverpool are in a strong negotiating position, with Gakpo still having four years remaining on his contract. The Reds are also reportedly keen to secure a replacement before considering letting the forward leave.
TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has subsequently suggested that Tottenham face an uphill battle to complete a deal for Gakpo before the transfer deadline.
Tottenham Agree Deal For West Ham’s ‘Rising Star’
While Tottenham continue working on their senior attacking targets, the club have also made another move designed to strengthen their future squad.
Football Insider reports that Spurs have agreed a deal to sign highly rated West Ham midfielder Isaac Allen.
According to Pete O’Rourke, Tottenham have beaten Arsenal to the 15-year-old’s signature after the Gunners were also believed to be interested in the youngster.
Allen has already represented England at Under-15 level, featuring against Iceland, Spain and Italy last December. Although primarily a defensive midfielder, he is also capable of operating at left-back.
The youngster has also demonstrated his attacking qualities from a deeper position. Allen was named player of the tournament at the 2025 Thames Ironworks Cup after scoring five goals for West Ham, including the winning goal in the final.
His proposed move would underline Tottenham’s growing focus on recruiting promising youngsters from rival academies before they establish themselves as senior professionals.
Spurs previously signed another promising West Ham youngster, Elisha Sowunmi, in January, with the 18-year-old subsequently joining Tottenham’s Under-21 setup.
Allen is expected to initially become part of Tottenham’s academy rather than De Zerbi’s first-team plans, while the financial terms of the agreement remain undisclosed.
Although the deal will not solve Tottenham’s immediate need for three attacking additions, beating Arsenal to an England youth international represents another significant step in the club’s long-term rebuilding strategy.
