Everton in regular contact to sign £60m Tottenham star, player stance revealed but deal hinges on key factor

Everton are ramping up their efforts to re-sign Tottenham forward Richarlison before the transfer window slams shut.

The Brazilian is said to be keen on a summer return to Goodison Park, with the Toffees staying in regular touch with Spurs over a potential deal. Journalist Sébastien Vidal reports that Everton are still keen on bringing their former star back to Merseyside and remain in ongoing talks with the north London club.

Tottenham aren’t actively trying to offload Richarlison, but they’re not opposed to letting the 29-year-old go either. With his contract running until 2027, Spurs may opt to sell now rather than risk losing him on a free transfer down the line.

What could trigger Richarlison’s comeback?
That said, Everton aren’t expected to make an immediate move. The club may hold off until either Beto or Thierno Barry departs before stepping up their pursuit of Richarlison. That would give manager David Moyes a clearer picture of his attacking ranks and potentially free up both squad space and funds to bring the Brazilian back.

Moyes is eager to bolster his forward line and views Richarlison as a more dependable option. His adaptability is a key selling point too—the former Everton man can play centrally or out wide.

Richarlison knows the club inside out after spending four seasons on Merseyside between 2018 and 2022. He notched 53 goals in 152 appearances before Tottenham shelled out £60 million to take him to north London in the summer of 2022.

His time at Spurs has had its ups and downs, but he’s remained a useful attacking piece, racking up 133 appearances with 32 goals and 15 assists. During the 2025/26 campaign, he featured 43 times, logged over 2,600 minutes, and contributed to 17 goals.

Everton believe his experience and existing affinity with the club could make him an appealing target as they aim to sharpen their attack. Richarlison’s willingness to return could smooth negotiations—though Tottenham’s asking price will ultimately be decisive.

For now, Everton appear to be keeping the lines of communication open rather than rushing toward a deal. But if Beto or Barry moves on, they’ll have the room and financial flexibility to accelerate talks and seal Richarlison’s return.
