Harry Kane may no longer be at Tottenham Hotspur, but the void left by the club’s all-time leading scorer remains as significant as ever.
When Kane completed his move to Bayern Munich in 2023, Spurs appeared to accept that replacing a striker of his calibre would be nearly impossible. Rather than signing a direct successor, the club opted to spread the responsibility across the squad.
Although Ange Postecoglou’s side enjoyed an impressive start to the 2023/24 campaign, their momentum faded, highlighting the absence of a reliable goalscorer. Richarlison finished that Premier League season with just 11 goals—far below Kane’s 30-goal haul in his final year in north London.
Since then, neither Richarlison nor £65 million signing Dominic Solanke has managed to consistently deliver in front of goal. Richarlison has scored only 27 Premier League goals across four seasons with Spurs following his move from Everton, while Solanke has registered just 12 league goals since arriving in 2024.
Meanwhile, Kane has flourished at Bayern Munich. Since the start of the 2023/24 season, the England captain has scored an astonishing 98 Bundesliga goals.
During the 2025/26 campaign alone, he found the net 36 times while creating 18 big chances, despite finishing with only five assists.
His impact has extended beyond domestic football. Kane has scored 33 Champions League goals for Bayern, including 14 in just 13 appearances last season.
Overall, he has amassed 146 goals in only 147 matches for the German giants, adding to his remarkable record of 280 goals in 436 games for Tottenham and 85 goals in 121 appearances for England.
The contrast is stark. Tottenham managed only 48 Premier League goals last season during their relegation battle, with Richarlison the only player to score more than five times.
Finding a striker capable of replicating Kane’s output is no easy task, but new manager Roberto De Zerbi is expected to prioritise strengthening his attack.
A move for promising forward Eli Junior Kroupi reportedly stalled because of injury concerns, while Barcelona’s Ferran Torres has also been linked with the club.
However, BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella has identified several other options, including Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian international has long been regarded as one of Europe’s elite strikers. Despite currently playing outside Europe’s top five leagues, Osimhen continues to attract interest from leading clubs after consistently producing goals throughout his career.
His record speaks for itself. Osimhen scored 65 goals in 108 appearances for Napoli before moving to Galatasaray, where he has struck 41 times in just 52 matches since initially joining on loan in 2024.
Across the last two seasons, the 27-year-old has scored 59 goals in 74 games, putting him among Europe’s most clinical finishers alongside players such as Kane and Erling Haaland.
In the 2024/25 campaign, Osimhen matched Kane’s tally of 26 league goals, equalling the best league return of his career after helping Napoli win the Serie A title in 2022/23. Even when injuries limited his appearances last season, he still managed 15 Super Lig goals in only 19 league starts.
Although fitness has occasionally interrupted his progress, Osimhen boasts an outstanding career record of 173 goals in 297 senior appearances. When fully fit, he remains one of the most dangerous strikers in world football.
Three years after Kane’s departure, Tottenham are still searching for a dominant, consistent goalscorer. If the club wants to finally fill the long-standing gap in attack, Osimhen could be the closest thing to the elite striker they have been missing.
