adminTottenham Hotspur are continuing to push for further squad improvements this summer, despite already sealing six new arrivals, according to Ben Jacobs on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast.
So far, Spurs have brought in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka on free transfers, signed Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton for £52m, and then broke their transfer record twice in the space of 48 hours—landing Mateus Fernandes for £85m and Sandro Tonali for £100m.
However, activity in north London has since gone quiet, and GMS’s senior correspondent has now offered an update on their current position.
Tottenham Targeting Attacking Reinforcements
After bolstering their defence and midfield, Spurs are now focused on strengthening their forward line this window, following back-to-back 17th-place finishes in the Premier League.
Randal Kolo Muani has departed after his loan spell, while Wilson Odobert, Dejan Kulusevski, and Xavi Simons are all still recovering from knee injuries, and Richarlison’s future remains uncertain.
Manchester City’s Savinho has emerged as the primary attacking target, but Jacobs revealed on the latest Market Madness podcast that he is not the only player under consideration.
“Spurs fans are asking, ‘Why are we so quiet?’ because they were so active earlier,” he said.
“But it’s not about breaking the club record every day—like they did within 24 hours with Fernandes and Tonali. That said, they are progressively moving up the pitch.
“The goalkeeper situation is settled, with Kinsky extending and Dubravka coming in. Defenders and midfielders have also arrived, so now Tottenham’s priority is a starting left-winger or attacker.
“Talks for Savinho are ongoing, but he isn’t the sole target. Crysencio Summerville is also on the radar, with Manchester United in the mix as well.”
Spurs Must Act Quickly on Summerville
With Spurs exploring a move for the £30m-rated Dutch international Summerville—who has been labelled ‘elite’—they know they’ll need to move fast if they’re serious about securing his signature.
United have identified him as their top forward target, depending on Marcus Rashford’s future, while Roma have also held talks with his representatives over a potential deal with West Ham.
Savinho remains the main objective, and a deal there is expected to gain traction in the coming days. Still, with West Ham having been relegated last season, Summerville’s situation is one worth monitoring and shouldn’t be ruled out.
