Man Utd ready to ‘finance’ Harry Kane transfer as Bayern Munich push for new contract

Tottenham and Manchester United are both monitoring Harry Kane’s situation closely, while Bayern Munich are eager to secure the England captain to a new contract following the World Cup.

Since departing Spurs for Bayern in a £100 million deal (including add-ons) in 2023, the 32-year-old has been sensational, scoring 146 goals in 147 appearances.

Kane helped Bayern secure a domestic double and was named Bundesliga Player of the Year. He has also shone for England at the World Cup, netting six times and playing a key role in their run to the semi-finals.

However, his contract status has created uncertainty about his future.

With just one year remaining on his current deal, it’s no surprise that several top European clubs are prepared to pounce if the chance arises.

TEAMtalk reports that former side Spurs are ‘keeping close tabs’ and are ‘well updated on their ex-captain’s situation’ thanks to ‘clauses included in Kane’s Bayern transfer.’

United’s interest is no secret. The report states co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ‘long been a major admirer of Kane,’ and the club ‘would be willing to back a move financially should the opportunity present itself.’

Barcelona and Real Madrid have also inquired about Kane’s position.

There is also attention from the Saudi Pro League and MLS, though a move to either at this point in his career seems very unlikely.

Spurs and Man Utd face wait for Kane chance

Despite growing interest, Bayern are confident about extending the forward’s deal.

The report adds that Bayern have been in talks with Kane’s representatives for months and are ‘not worried’ about him signing.

In fact, an extension is viewed as a matter of ‘when, not if,’ suggesting a summer transfer is very improbable. However, his situation could change further down the line—potentially next summer.

Tottenham believe they could be in a position to re-sign Kane in a year’s time if he shows interest in returning.

But with Manchester United still keen and ready to invest heavily, they remain a club to keep an eye on as well.
