Tottenham in strong position to complete 80-goal winger signing as superstar eyes dream Prem move

Tottenham Hotspur have no intention of slowing down their summer spending spree. After wrapping up the signing of Mateus Fernandes and agreeing a £100 million deal for Sandro Tonali, the club has now set its sights on landing a top-tier winger—with AC Milan’s Rafael Leao emerging as a primary target.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side kicked off the window in ambitious fashion, securing Fernandes for a record £85 million, before quickly following up with a blockbuster offer for Tonali that Newcastle accepted. But Spurs aren’t done yet, and a new wide attacker is next on the agenda.

While Manchester City’s Savinho remains on their radar, it’s Milan and Portugal star Leao who is now gaining serious traction as a potential addition.

According to our colleagues at TEAMtalk, Tottenham hold a genuine interest in the 27-year-old, and newly appointed Milan manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly open to cashing in on him this summer. Leao, currently showcasing his talents for Portugal at the World Cup, is said to be eager for a new challenge—and crucially, he is drawn to the Premier League. Sources suggest he would give serious thought to joining Spurs if a deal becomes viable.

Leao’s representatives have also approached Manchester United, Arsenal, and Barcelona, but TEAMtalk reports that none of those clubs have made him a priority signing. That leaves Tottenham in a promising position should they decide to push forward with an official offer—and all signs point to them doing exactly that.

Spurs preparing a move for Leao
Internally, Tottenham view Leao’s openness to their project as a major encouragement. However, striking a deal will require intensive negotiations with Milan, who are intent on securing a substantial fee for their star asset. Interest from United, Arsenal, and Barca also remains a possibility.

Since joining Milan in 2019, Leao has developed into one of Serie A’s most dynamic attackers, registering 80 goals and 65 assists in 291 appearances. If he can replicate that form in north London, he would represent a transformative signing for Spurs.

Leao has also turned heads at the World Cup, netting in Portugal’s 5-0 group-stage victory over Uzbekistan and providing a key assist in their 2-1 Round of 32 win against Croatia.

With that in mind, it will be fascinating to see whether Tottenham translate their interest into a formal bid. If they do, they appear well-placed to land the Portuguese star this summer.
