Everton F.C. supporters are likely to be stunned after club legend Duncan Ferguson joined Crystal Palace F.C. fans in praising in-form attacker Ismaïla Sarr following another standout display at Selhurst Park.
The Senegal international maintained his scintillating run of form during Palace’s meeting with Everton, underlining exactly why he has become one of the most talked-about forwards across Europe this term.
The 28-year-old arrived into the contest riding high after helping Oliver Glasner’s side book a place in the 2025-26 UEFA Conference League final, stretching his remarkable European scoring streak with another goal in Palace’s 2-1 semi-final second-leg win over FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
Sarr’s exploits in Europe have been nothing short of exceptional. He has now struck nine times in the Conference League campaign, eclipsing his Premier League numbers while cementing himself as the focal point of Glasner’s attacking setup.
Despite his richer return in Europe, the forward has remained a consistent performer domestically and entered Sunday’s clash with Everton sitting on seven league goals. That figure, however, soon climbed after another telling intervention against the Toffees.
Everton initially seemed poised to assert control once defender James Tarkowski fired David Moyes’s side ahead. But Palace responded fiercely, and Sarr once again rose to the occasion when it mattered most.
The leveller stemmed from a sharp exchange on the right flank with Daniel Muñoz. Sarr’s initial attempt was charged down inside the area, but the rebound fell kindly back into his stride, allowing the attacker to rifle home emphatically and haul Palace level.
The goal triggered euphoric celebrations among the travelling Palace faithful, many of whom have thrown their full support behind Sarr during his outstanding campaign.
What truly set social media alight, however, was the glowing tribute paid to the Palace forward by Duncan Ferguson, a man whose legendary ties to Everton run deep.
The former Toffees striker reportedly hailed Sarr’s movement, calmness and relentless threat in attack, remarks that did not sit well with sections of the Everton fanbase online.
Many supporters were left aggrieved watching one of their most iconic figures applaud the opposition star just moments after Everton had surrendered their advantage.
For Palace fans, though, the admiration only strengthened the sense that Sarr is enjoying the finest season of his career. With the Eagles now gearing up for a historic European final while continuing to push hard in the Premier League, the Senegalese forward keeps enhancing his reputation as one of the most influential players in English football this season.
