The Portuguese midfielder was handed his first start under manager Roberto De Zerbi, having previously come off the bench to score the match-winning goal against Wolves. The 30-year-old delivered a characteristically solid and energetic display, helping Rodrigo Bentancur and Conor Gallagher overrun Aston Villa in the middle of the park.
