‘Unbelievable’ Striker Wants to Re-Join Tottenham Even After Relegation
Troy Parrott Open to Tottenham Return Even If Spurs Are Relegated, Says Alasdair Gold
Troy Parrott is reportedly willing to rejoin Tottenham Hotspur this summer—even if the club ends up in the Championship.
According to Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold, the Irish striker remains keen on a return to north London regardless of which division Spurs find themselves in.
Tottenham’s hopes of Premier League survival took a major blow on Saturday when they conceded a 95th-minute equalizer against Brighton & Hove Albion at home, having been just moments away from their first league win of 2026.

It has now been four months since Spurs last tasted victory in the Premier League, a dire run with only five matches remaining.
The late equalizer prevented Tottenham from climbing out of the relegation zone. They currently sit one point from safety, with 18th-placed West Ham United facing Crystal Palace on Monday night. Manager Roberto De Zerbi knows next weekend’s trip to Wolves is a must-win—and even a West Ham loss to Palace wouldn’t be enough to lift Spurs out of the drop zone.
Major squad changes are expected at Tottenham no matter what division they play in next season, and Parrott is open to returning.
Tottenham Hold 20% Sell-On Clause for Parrott
Tottenham sold Parrott to AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2024, believing he wasn’t ready for first-team impact. But Gold reports that could change in the coming months.
The Republic of Ireland international has since flourished in the Netherlands, scoring 50 goals in 92 games for AZ and helping them win the KNVB Cup on Sunday.
Parrott ranks as the fifth-highest scorer across Europe’s top 15 leagues this season when combining league, cup and international goals.

Spurs included a 20% sell-on clause in his deal with AZ, and his current valuation is estimated at around €25 million (£21.7m) this summer—meaning Tottenham could effectively receive a discount if they decide to bring him back.
Parrott Eager for Spurs Return
Gold adds that several top European clubs—including Napoli, Real Betis, Bayer Leverkusen and Ajax—are targeting the 24-year-old, who has been called “unbelievable” by Shelbourne player Paddy Barrett. Despite that interest, Parrott would be keen to return to a club he loves, regardless of their Premier League status.
The striker was desperate to succeed at Tottenham before his departure, having made only four appearances. Returning this summer would give him that chance.
Gold’s report suggests that helping fire Spurs back to the Premier League would mean more to him than joining another top-flight club with interest in him.
Parrott would also suit De Zerbi’s system, as he presses from the front and boasts strong ball-winning stats. There’s little doubt he’d be an outstanding signing for a Championship club—and given his scoring record, he could offer something as a backup option for Spurs even in the Premier League.
