“We saw Leeds United”- Peter Schmeichel issued SHOCKING Tottenham relegation verdict..

Leeds United’s commanding 3-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday has stretched their lead over relegation-threatened Tottenham to eight points, with just five matches remaining.

Tottenham, meanwhile, conceded a late equalizer against Brighton on Saturday evening, dropping two precious points as they continue to wait for their first Premier League win of 2026. Leeds, in contrast, followed up their win over Manchester United with a dominant display against Wolves, putting them on the brink of securing another season in the top flight.

Daniel Farke has urged his Leeds players to stay cautious and hasn’t ruled out a late resurgence from Spurs. But Peter Schmeichel is less convinced, pointing to Tottenham’s challenging run-in.

Schmeichel makes a Leeds point while voicing concern for Spurs

Former Leeds forward Georginio Rutter dealt Tottenham a painful blow with his 95th-minute equalizer for Brighton on Saturday. Speaking on Premier League Productions, Peter Schmeichel analyzed Spurs’ remaining fixtures and suggested they face an uphill battle.

He noted that Wolves, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Everton all still have something to play for. Leeds themselves travel to Tottenham next month, and Schmeichel highlighted their current form as a major threat.

“Next up is Wolves,” Schmeichel said. “Had Spurs won today, Wolves would have been relegated. They need a miracle, but they’re at home and have pulled off some incredible results. Aston Villa are still chasing Champions League football, so that’s tough. Leeds are playing really well and have found form. Then it’s Chelsea away—Tottenham never beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Finally, Everton on the last day, likely fighting for Europe. Every opponent has something at stake. It’s going to be very difficult.”

Farke’s side are on the verge

The Leeds manager has made it clear he wants no complacency, reminding everyone how unpredictable this season has been. Still, there’s no denying Leeds are now in a much stronger position. They return to Premier League action on Wednesday against Bournemouth, before turning attention to their FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea next Sunday.

With games still to come against Tottenham, Burnley, and West Ham, Leeds are edging closer to mathematically confirming their survival. Farke may be keeping his players grounded, but quietly, Leeds can feel increasingly confident about staying up.
