Supercomputer predicts Tottenham’s Premier League finish after Brighton heartbreak

Tottenham Hotspur’s battle for Premier League survival remains finely balanced, but new simulations have provided a clearer forecast for how their season might unfold.

Spurs entered their match against Brighton needing to avoid defeat—and they managed exactly that. A 2-2 draw with one of the league’s most in-form sides isn’t a poor result, though it will feel like a missed opportunity after coming so close to winning, only to concede late.

With five games remaining, Tottenham will likely need at least nine more points to guarantee safety.

Unfortunately, the draw keeps Spurs in the relegation zone heading into the next round. A win on Saturday would have lifted them to 16th, above Nottingham Forest and West Ham (who play later)—an opportunity now gone.

Tottenham will be hoping Burnley and Crystal Palace can do them favors against Forest and West Ham respectively, keeping the gap tight. But after the Brighton result, Opta’s supercomputer has updated its forecast.

According to the model, Spurs are expected to fall short of survival, finishing four points below the 40-point mark—on 36 points in 18th place, two points behind West Ham, who are predicted to stay up just barely.

Spurs must build on Brighton display to defy the odds

The outlook appears grim, especially if West Ham win later this week, potentially opening a four-point gap. Still, Tottenham can take heart from their resilient performance against Brighton, which showed real fight and character.

If they can build on that display, more points could follow in the final stretch. Next up for the Lilywhites is a crucial clash with last-place Wolves—a must-win game.
