Tottenham Receive Major Double Injury Boost Ahead of Leeds United Clash as De Zerbi Welcomes Back Two Key Stars

Tottenham Hotspur have received a significant boost ahead of their Premier League meeting with Leeds United this weekend, with two important midfielders expected to return to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.

The North London club travel to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon hoping to extend their impressive winning run after securing three consecutive Premier League victories.

Spurs have shown considerable improvement in recent weeks, moving away from the bottom of the table and climbing into the top half following victories over Coventry City, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

However, De Zerbi has been forced to manage several injury and suspension problems, particularly in midfield, where the absence of key players has limited his selection options.

Fortunately for the Italian manager, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall are both expected to be available again for the trip to Leeds.

Bentancur has missed Tottenham’s last three Premier League matches after receiving a red card during their dramatic encounter with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Uruguayan midfielder was sent off for violent conduct following an incident involving Manchester United defender Luke Shaw, resulting in a three-match domestic suspension.

His absence meant De Zerbi had to make adjustments to his midfield, although Tottenham have managed to collect maximum points from their last three league fixtures.

Meanwhile, Bergvall has also been unavailable after suffering a knee injury during the same Manchester United encounter.

The Swedish midfielder reportedly experienced discomfort after creating an early opportunity for Dominic Solanke, eventually forcing Tottenham to withdraw him from the game.

De Zerbi subsequently confirmed that Bergvall would spend approximately two weeks on the sidelines.

With both players now expected to return to the matchday squad against Leeds, Tottenham could have considerably more options available in the middle of the pitch.

The return of Bentancur, in particular, will provide additional experience, physicality and composure, while Bergvall offers energy, creativity and the ability to drive the team forward.

However, their availability could also create a selection headache for De Zerbi, who must decide how to organise his midfield after Tottenham’s recent success.

The likes of Mateus Fernandes and other midfield options have played important roles during the club’s winning run, meaning the Italian will have some difficult decisions to make.

Tottenham will certainly hope their returning players can help maintain the momentum they have built over the past few weeks.

With Leeds United waiting at Elland Road, De Zerbi’s men have an opportunity to secure a fourth consecutive Premier League victory and further strengthen their position in the standings.

For Spurs supporters, the prospect of welcoming Bentancur and Bergvall back at such an important stage of the campaign will undoubtedly be encouraging news.
