The former Newcastle striker, now working as a football pundit, selected his Premier League Team of the Week after another round of top-flight fixtures.
Newcastle produced an impressive display for more than an hour against Hull, controlling much of the game and creating enough opportunities to put the result beyond doubt. However, the visitors made the closing stages uncomfortable after pulling a goal back in the 67th minute.
Newcastle’s situation was made more difficult by a lengthy injury list, with nine first-team squad members unavailable and manager Matthias Jaissle having limited options on the bench.
Despite the late pressure from Hull, Newcastle held on to secure all three points, and Shearer was particularly impressed by one Magpies player.

Shearer selected Lewis Hall in his Premier League Team of the Week after the Newcastle defender’s contribution during the 2-1 win.
Hall was among Newcastle’s standout performers and also got his name on the scoresheet, scoring Newcastle’s second goal in the seventh minute after Joe Willock had opened the scoring in the third minute.

Willock put the hosts ahead after just three minutes before Hall doubled the advantage four minutes later.
Hull eventually reduced the deficit through Cho in the 67th minute, setting up a tense final period, but Newcastle managed to protect their lead and claim victory.
Newcastle finished the match with 56 per cent possession compared with Hull’s 44 per cent. The visitors, however, registered more attempts, with Hull taking 21 shots to Newcastle’s 12.
