ROY KEANE FURIOUS AS CELTIC SUFFER ANOTHER DEVASTATING OLD FIRM DEFEAT WITH RANGERS DEALING SHOCK BLOW TO TITLE CHALLENGE

Roy Keane was left visibly frustrated after watching Celtic suffer a 1-0 defeat to Rangers in Sunday’s Old Firm derby at Celtic Park.

The former Manchester United and Celtic midfielder was in attendance as his boyhood club endured another disappointing result against their city rivals. Ryan Naderi scored the only goal of the match in the first half, giving Rangers a second consecutive victory over Celtic within eight days.

Naderi opened the scoring in the 33rd minute after Rangers capitalised on a rebound following a corner. Celtic struggled to produce a sustained response, while Rangers remained dangerous and created further opportunities after the interval.

The defeat marked Celtic’s first Scottish Premiership loss of the season and leaves the title race considerably tighter, with Rangers reducing the gap between the two sides to two points heading into the international break.

Keane’s reaction was noticeable throughout the afternoon, with the Manchester United legend appearing increasingly frustrated as Celtic struggled to find a way back into the contest.

The result caps a difficult period for Celtic. Martin O’Neill’s side had already suffered a 3-0 defeat to Rangers in the League Cup before losing 3-1 to Ferencvaros in Europe during the week.

Sunday’s loss therefore represents Celtic’s third defeat in seven days across three competitions, increasing the pressure surrounding O’Neill ahead of the international break.

Celtic briefly appeared to have found an equaliser late in the game when Olwethu Makhanya found the net, but the goal was ruled out for handball after a review. Rangers subsequently held on to secure another important Old Firm victory.

Keane has a strong personal connection with Celtic, having made 10 appearances for the club in 2006 after leaving Manchester United. He helped Celtic win the Scottish Premier League and Scottish League Cup before ending his playing career.

With Celtic now only two points ahead of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership, Sunday’s result has added further intrigue to the title race and given Derek McInnes’ Rangers side significant momentum going into the international break.
