Roberto De Zerbi’s side avoided what could have been a damaging third consecutive league defeat, earning a point from a difficult encounter at the City Ground.
Tottenham had to work tirelessly throughout the match to prevent a determined Forest side from breaking through. While the result will not completely satisfy Spurs supporters, the clean sheet provided at least one positive takeaway.
However, Tottenham’s problems in attack remain a major concern. The North London club are still waiting for their first Premier League goal of the campaign after playing six halves of football.
Despite that worrying statistic, Kinsky remains convinced that Spurs are moving in the right direction.
Kinsky Praises Tottenham’s Intensity
The Czech goalkeeper recorded his first clean sheet of the season and believes the defensive display represents an important step forward for De Zerbi’s team.
Kinsky praised the effort and intensity shown by his teammates throughout the 90 minutes, insisting that Tottenham produced a performance they can use as a foundation for future games.
Speaking after the 0-0 draw, the 23-year-old said:
“Today was a difficult game, but on the other hand, it was exactly what we expected. I think, from a defensive point of view, well done. The zero in the final result speaks for itself.
“I think today, as I said before, the intensity and everything we put in was different from the last games, and I think it’s different in a way that it has to look like this all the time.
“I think we can be happy with this, and we can build from that.”
Kinsky also expressed confidence that Tottenham’s performances will improve as the players become more accustomed to one another.
“Everyone today, I think we delivered. From this, we can build on, because of the quality we have. I’m pretty sure that it will change, and it will go the way we want,” he added.
Kinsky Calls for Patience After Tottenham Rebuild
Tottenham made significant changes to their squad during the summer, bringing in several new players as part of a major rebuild.
Kinsky believes the additions have improved the squad considerably, but warned that developing strong chemistry cannot happen overnight.
The goalkeeper compared building a football team to a process that requires considerably more time than simply putting talented players together.
“We bought very, very good players, but you can’t just build the team with the names like in Football Manager,” Kinsky explained.
“We are disappointed for the result but for the performance very happy, considering we started to work together last Thursday for the first time, for the first day.”
The Tottenham goalkeeper acknowledged that there are still several areas where the team must improve, including their organisation both with and without possession.
He was nevertheless encouraged by the way Spurs handled possession against Forest and believes their attacking play can become much more effective with time.
“We have to improve in every part of football, organisation with and without the ball,” Kinsky said.
“Even today, I thought we defended very well. We have to work because I think we played very well with the ball, we found the solution. I think we can be much better in the final third.”
With Tottenham still searching for their first league goal, De Zerbi will be hoping the improved defensive organisation can provide the platform for his attacking players to find their rhythm in the coming matches.
