Trabzonspor Step Up Richarlison Pursuit as Tottenham Exit Moves Closer
Trabzonspor are pushing hard to complete a deal for Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison before Turkey’s transfer deadline, with the Brazilian striker already understood to have agreed personal terms with the club.
According to reports, Trabzonspor are increasingly confident of securing Richarlison’s signature, with the Turkish side now working to reach an agreement with Tottenham over the transfer fee.
Tottenham are also keen to find a solution for the 29-year-old, particularly after he made it clear that he wants to leave the club. Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi has previously acknowledged that Richarlison has expressed his desire to move on.
The forward’s position at Tottenham has become even more difficult following the club’s recent attacking reinforcements. The arrival of Omar Marmoush has pushed Richarlison further down the pecking order, while Dominic Solanke is also ahead of him in the battle for regular playing time.
Richarlison has only one year remaining on his current Tottenham contract, although the club have an option to extend the agreement for another 12 months.
He arrived in north London from Everton in 2022 and enjoyed his most productive Premier League campaign last season, finishing as Tottenham’s leading scorer in the competition with 11 goals. However, that form has not been enough to convince De Zerbi to make him a central part of his plans.
The Brazilian is believed to have told the manager on more than one occasion that he wanted to leave. His situation became even clearer when he was omitted from the squad for Tottenham’s defeat against Newcastle.
A potential return to Everton was discussed before the English transfer window closed, with talks taking place between the clubs. However, no agreement was reached and Richarlison remained at Tottenham after the Premier League deadline passed.
The striker subsequently appeared to send a pointed message about wanting to control his own future, further fuelling speculation over his next move.
With the English window now closed, Tottenham have been forced to explore opportunities abroad, and Trabzonspor have emerged as serious contenders for his signature.
Trabzonspor Make Richarlison Their Priority Target
Trabzonspor have reportedly made Richarlison their leading attacking target as they look to strengthen their squad before the Turkish deadline.
The Turkish club have already seen two offers rejected, believed to be worth around £15 million and £20 million respectively. However, negotiations have continued, with Richarlison himself understood to be pushing for the transfer.
The striker has reportedly reached a verbal agreement over personal terms with Trabzonspor, including wages that would be significantly higher than what he currently earns at Tottenham.
That agreement has strengthened the Turkish club’s hopes of completing the deal, but the major stumbling block remains the transfer fee.
Tottenham are understood to want a satisfactory financial return before allowing Richarlison to leave, particularly given the money they invested when signing him from Everton.
De Zerbi’s position has also remained clear. Players who want to depart must provide what he has described as an “economic solution”, meaning Spurs will not simply allow Richarlison to leave without receiving an acceptable offer.
For now, the player’s willingness to join Trabzonspor does not appear to be an issue. The remaining challenge is for the two clubs to agree on the financial terms.
If Trabzonspor can improve their proposal to a figure Tottenham are prepared to accept, the transfer could be completed rapidly before the Turkish deadline.
There is growing confidence around the negotiations that an agreement could be reached within the next 24 hours.
If the final details are settled, Richarlison’s four-year spell at Tottenham could soon come to an end, with the Brazilian preparing for a fresh challenge in the Turkish Super Lig.
