The visitors finished the match with only one shot on target, while Watford remained dangerous whenever they managed to break forward.
Dionisi’s frustration was understandable because his team had shown enough quality and determination to believe they could have taken maximum points.
The Italian coach has already had to deal with a difficult squad situation. Watford’s lack of depth has been evident, with the club even naming a matchday bench that included two goalkeepers.
Yet despite those limitations, Dionisi has managed to organise his players effectively.
The Hornets were expected by many to struggle during the opening weeks of the season, particularly given their demanding fixtures. Instead, they have remained unbeaten and demonstrated a level of resilience that could become increasingly important as the campaign develops.
For West Ham, meanwhile, the draw represents another disappointing result.
The Hammers were relegated from the Premier League last season with expectations of an immediate return to the top flight. Their financial investment and squad quality have made them one of the obvious promotion favourites.
Instead, they have collected only two points from their opening three league matches.
That poor start has already triggered frustration among supporters, with sections of the travelling West Ham support making their feelings known after the final whistle.
Nuno acknowledged the disappointment but insisted he still believes his team can turn the situation around.
“We are a big club, we are favourites to go up,” the West Ham manager said after the game. “We have three games, we have two points. Who is happy? But me? I believe. I trust my boys.”
He also called on supporters to remain patient while the squad continues to develop.
For Dionisi, however, the immediate focus will be on ensuring Watford build on their impressive start.
The Hornets may not have the spending power or squad depth of some of their Championship rivals, but their organisation, fighting spirit and emerging young talent have already made them difficult opponents.
Nabizada in particular has become one of the biggest talking points around the club. The teenager had never started a senior match before this season, yet he has quickly established himself as a regular threat in Dionisi’s attack.
His performances could become one of the biggest positives from Watford’s opening weeks.
Although the draw may ultimately feel like two points dropped for Watford, their unbeaten record remains intact.
For West Ham, the situation is considerably more concerning.
A club expecting to challenge for promotion cannot afford to continue dropping points, and another poor result could increase the pressure surrounding Nuno ahead of their next fixture.
The contrasting emotions from both camps perfectly summed up the afternoon.
Watford left frustrated that they could not finish the job, while West Ham left knowing that another opportunity to claim their first league victory had slipped away.
With the season still in its early stages, there is plenty of time for both clubs to change their fortunes.
But if Watford continue performing with the same determination shown against West Ham, Dionisi’s side could prove to be a much tougher opponent than many expected.
