West Ham were expected to challenge strongly for promotion following their relegation from the Premier League, but their opening three league matches have produced just two points. That poor return has already created serious frustration among supporters.
The Hammers began their campaign by surrendering a two-goal advantage against Burnley before settling for a draw. They then suffered a 2–1 home defeat against Charlton before Saturday’s frustrating stalemate against Watford.
The latest result was particularly disappointing because West Ham were expected to dominate against a Watford side that finished only 16th in the Championship last season.

West Ham eventually levelled through an unfortunate own goal after Valentín Castellanos forced the ball across the face of goal, with the effort taking a deflection off Mattie Pollock and ending up in the net.
Despite increasing their pressure during the second half, West Ham were unable to find the winning goal.
The result leaves the club with just two points from their first three Championship matches and increases the pressure surrounding Nuno.
Speaking after the match, Nuno acknowledged the frustration surrounding the team but insisted that he still believes West Ham can turn their fortunes around.
The manager called on supporters to remain behind the players, stressing that the squad needs unity as they attempt to improve their results.
“We are a big club, we are favourites to go up,” Nuno said after the draw. “We have three games, we have two points. Who is happy? But me? I believe. I trust my boys.”
He also admitted that the team must improve quickly, with another difficult fixture against Wolves coming up.
The pressure is now enormous because West Ham’s objective is clear: an immediate return to the Premier League. Their heavy investment and expectations mean that simply competing in the Championship is not enough.
Mark Noble, the club’s sporting director and a legendary former West Ham captain, has also been mentioned in discussions surrounding the club’s managerial situation. However, there is currently no reliable confirmation that Noble has been appointed interim manager or that West Ham have officially dismissed Nuno following the Watford draw.
What is beyond doubt is that Nuno is under significant pressure.
West Ham supporters have already made their frustration clear, and another disappointing result could increase calls for the club’s hierarchy to consider a change.
For now, Nuno remains focused on turning things around, but the next few matches could prove crucial.
