In a conversation with journalist Henry Winter, Kane revealed that when he first departed Spurs in 2023, he fully anticipated heading back to England at some point. But his time in Germany has shifted that mindset.
Quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Kane said:
“When I first left, for sure it was something that I thought I’d definitely be coming back. That itch isn’t there as much anymore. I’m extremely happy here in Munich.”
The Bayern forward also made it clear he is fully committed to the club’s direction under Vincent Kompany. Instead of actively seeking a Premier League return, Kane is now open to extending his stay in Bavaria and continuing his career in the Bundesliga—a notable departure from the narrative that he would eventually head back to England.

By the time Kane left Tottenham in August 2023, he had already cemented his place among English football’s elite strikers. Spending nearly his entire career at Spurs, he became one of the Premier League’s greatest forwards, winning three Golden Boots and leading the attack for the better part of a decade.

When he moved to Bayern, many assumed he would eventually return to England to chase down Shearer’s mark. In recent weeks, he’s even been linked with a sensational Spurs comeback, while Manchester United have also shown long-standing interest.
But his latest comments indicate that breaking the record is no longer a major factor in his decision-making—effectively putting an end to those rumours, at least for now.
