DONE DEAL: Sensational Tottenham Hotspur Star joins Juventus on loan-to-buy

Another one officially on the move. Today, both Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that Guglielmo Vicario—Spurs’ primary goalkeeper for the last three seasons—has joined the Italian giants on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Vicario, who lost his starting spot to Toni Kinski late last season after an injury, had been pushing for a return to Italy this summer. Although the deal took most of the transfer window to materialize, Juventus eventually got it over the line.

The loan reportedly includes a purchase option set at £8.6 million, though later reports indicate there’s also an upfront loan fee, with the option itself costing only around €2 million.

That structure—higher initial payment, lower permanent-transfer fee—makes it less likely Juventus will walk away from the deal next summer, which feels like a smarter arrangement than when the loan-plus-option was first announced.

Vicario is a solid goalkeeper, but over time, weaknesses in his game became evident—particularly his distribution and passing from the back. That said, on his best days, he remains an outstanding shot-stopper. Kinski now has big gloves to fill, but he’ll be given every chance to prove he’s up to the task.
