However, despite recent speculation, a move for former Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun is not currently being pursued.
Roberto De Zerbi has already been backed with six new arrivals this summer, with Tottenham spending an extraordinary £237 million. Sandro Tonali became the club’s record signing after completing a £100 million move from Newcastle United.
Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have also arrived in North London.
Although Spurs’ transfer activity has slowed since Tonali’s arrival on July 6, the club remains determined to add more firepower to De Zerbi’s squad.
Gakpo and Savinho Remain Top Targets
Manchester City winger Savinho has been a long-standing target, with the Brazilian reportedly interested in making the move to Tottenham. However, he is not the only Premier League attacker on Spurs’ radar.
Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has emerged as another major target, and Romano has confirmed that Tottenham are working on deals for both players.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that more movement is expected at Spurs, with Gakpo and Savinho remaining their two main targets for the wide positions.
Savinho has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at Manchester City, with limited playing time restricting his opportunities. Tottenham are reportedly becoming increasingly confident that they can reach an agreement for the 22-year-old.
Gakpo, meanwhile, has enjoyed a more established role at Liverpool and has produced consistently impressive performances since arriving at Anfield. However, his future could become uncertain if Liverpool intensify their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
No Balogun Negotiations
Romano also addressed reports linking Tottenham with AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun, making it clear that Spurs are not currently negotiating for the former Arsenal player.
According to Romano, Tottenham’s priorities remain Gakpo and Savinho, while Pedro Neto is viewed as another alternative. However, Neto’s high price could make a deal difficult.
Tottenham are also considering adding another centre-forward. Their previous target, Junior Kroupi, suffered an injury during Bournemouth’s pre-season preparations, potentially pushing any move for the French youngster back until next year.
Savinho Could Cost Spurs £85m
Of all the names mentioned, Savinho currently appears to be the most likely arrival. Reports from Brazil claim Tottenham have submitted an £85 million offer for the winger.
That potential fee has raised questions, particularly given that Savinho has yet to consistently demonstrate his full potential in English football. While he has shown flashes of quality, spending such a significant amount on a player who remains relatively unproven could represent a major gamble.
Tottenham have already spent heavily this summer, and another huge investment would increase the pressure on De Zerbi to ensure the new signings deliver immediately.
Tonali’s £100 million price tag, for example, is easier to justify because the Italian midfielder has already established himself among the Premier League’s top midfielders. Mateus Fernandes also arrives with strong credentials after making a major impression at West Ham United last season.
