Romero’s camp keeping Barcelona informed
SportItalia journalist Gianluigi Longari has revealed that Romero’s representatives are keeping Barcelona updated on the latest developments surrounding the defender’s future.
According to Longari, Romero’s camp remains hopeful that Barcelona will make an official approach, although the Catalan giants are currently concentrating their efforts on signing Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
Longari stated on X that Romero’s entourage have informed Barcelona about the ongoing situation because they are hoping the club decides to enter the race. However, Rodri remains Barcelona’s priority at the moment.
Atletico preparing improved Romero offer
Despite Barcelona’s renewed interest, Atletico Madrid appear determined to complete the transfer and are preparing a second bid for the Tottenham defender.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Atletico are working on an offer worth around €40m (£34.2m), a figure close to the amount Tottenham had previously accepted from Inter Milan for Romero.
With Barcelona now potentially back in contention, Atletico will be eager to move quickly and secure an agreement with Spurs before Hansi Flick’s side has the opportunity to make a formal approach.
